Deck the Halls Week 1

Questions

  • Pray and invite God into this time with Him.

  • Do you set up a Christmas tree in your house? Why do you do that?

  • Read Genesis 2:16-17

  • Before fancy Christmas ornaments became a thing, we used to hang apples on Christmas trees. The apples remind us of our sin–have you ever thought about the symbolism behind the things we do for Christmas?

  • If someone were to ask you if you were a ‘good person’, what would you say and why do you say that?

  • Read Romans 3:10-12, 23 & 6:23

  • We actually can’t be good enough, but Jesus is. How does that encourage you in your walk with Him?

  • Talk about the evergreen (Christmas) tree & how it’s similar to Jesus.

  • Read Matthew 1:21

  • Jesus came to bring life! Take some time to think about all the ways He has brought life into your life and thank Him for it.

Spiritual Practice
Prayer: Spend time in prayer with God. Thank Jesus for being able to fulfill the “good enough” standard that God requires in our place. Thank Him for bringing life. Ask God to help you remember all the ways He has brought life into your life.
