Book of James Week 2

Questions

• Pray and invite God into this time with Him.

• Read James 2:1-4. 

• Define favoritism and talk about time you witnessed or experienced favoritism in your own life.

• Now define discernment and talk about the differences between discernment and and favoritism. 

• Discuss a time where you used discernment in your life. 

• Read James 2:5, 10-11. 

• Has there been a time in your life where favoritism (judgement) kept you from seeing God in other people? 

• Read Revelation 19:7,9. 

• Revelation says that in the end, we will all share a table with Jesus. Who would you be uncomfortable sitting by and why? How do you think Jesus feels about those people? 

• Read James 2:14-19, 26.

• What’s a step of obedience you need to take in your life? A seed you need to plant and nurture?

Spiritual Practice
Prayer: Spend time in prayer with God. Ask Him to help you move from showing favoritism to using discernment. Ask for His eyes to see people the way He sees them. Thank Him for seeing you as He does. Hand over whatever you need to in obedience to Him.
